Things I’ve learned while in Bogota:
1. Always carry an umbrella. You never know when it’s going to suddenly downpour.
2. Taxis are cheap and the drivers are really nice about not ripping you off (even when you sit in gridlock for 20 minutes).
3. Don’t take taxis or walk alone at night.
4. Watch out for camera snatchers.
5. Casa Vieja is the place to go for traditional Colombian food.
6. Abasto has the best brunch in the city.
7. You can pay for meals on a payment plan (restaurants always ask how many payments you want to make when paying your bill).
8. The bill always includes tax and tip.
9. Juice is freshly squeezed - no concentrates here!
10. The drink of choice for breakfast is chocolate caliente.
11. Sunday is Ciclovia day.
12. Empanada street vendors are my best friends.
13. I could live at Pan Pa’ Ya.
14. Monserrate has the best views of the city.
15. My body is not made for high altitudes.
